How to keep mobile/cellphone clean

The one thing that people carry with them everywhere – often literally everywhere, including to the loo – is their cellphone. But various studies have shown that our phones are the dirtiest things we own, and some phones have been found to have more faecal bacteria then even the average commode! Here’s how to clean your cell phone without damaging it.

  • Do not use window cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia, or abrasives to clean your phone. Distilled water and a bit of rubbing alcohol will do fine
  • If your phone has a physical keypad or plastic exteriors, use a soft cloth or Q-tips dampened with rubbing alcohol to clean those. However, do not rub them over metal parts
  • Use a dry Q-tip to gently clean under the battery cover
  • For the front or screen, use a soft, lint-free cloth, the kind you clean your spectacles with, dampened with a small amount of distilled water
  • Remove and clean your phone cover the same way you cleaned your phone
